Capital Grants
Each year, legislators advocate for capital improvement projects in their district. My District 16 colleagues and I have worked hard to secure funding for various projects in our community.

District 16 Projects

$3.6M - North Bethesda Metro Station
The North Bethesda Metro station is a vital part of bringing people to and from our community. Funds supported the construction of a second entrance to the station.

$3M - UM Institute for Health Computing
The University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing (UM-IHC) in North Bethesda, Maryland, is the hub for health computing innovation and collaboration in Montgomery County.

$2.7M - Walt Whitman High School
Walt Whitman serves District 16 students and was in need of renovations to ensure our students are learning in a safe and functional environment.

$1.5M - Glen Echo Park Partnership
The Glen Echo Park Partnership allows the arts to thrive right here in our own district. Funds went toward renovating the Spanish Ballroom.

$458K - Children's Inn at NIH
The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supports children and young adults who are participating in an NIH clinical research study. The Inn needed support to construct its new isolation wing, specifically going toward ADA-accessible amenities.

$440K - The Diener School
The Diener School supports the academic and social needs of students with learning differences. Funds went toward disability access improvements.

$300K - Bannockburn Community Club
The Bannockburn Nursery School and Community Clubhouse provides space for the community to gather and host a nursery school. Funds went toward the Clubhouse’s renovation project that included replacing or upgrading the HVAC system, floor insulation, windows, roof, electrical, acoustic, and lighting systems, and the playground area.

$250K - Imagination Stage
Imagination Stage provides professional theatre productions and arts education programming for youth of all ages and abilities. Replacements and upgrades were needed to continue to fulfill its mission. These included environmental, safety, and accessibility upgrades.

$200K - Bender Jewish Community Center
Bender JCC brings together people of all abilities, backgrounds, identities, and religions. Funds went to improve their facilities.

$200K - National Center for Children and Families
NCCF is the largest emergency family shelter in Montgomery County serving children and parents who face sudden homelessness. Security improvements were necessary to protect client rights to safety while seeking shelter and services.

$150K - Town of Glen Echo
The Town of Glen Echo sought funds for their stormwater restoration project to keep polluted runoff from reaching the Potomac River, prevent erosion of the surrounding forested areas, and decrease town and residential property damage.

$150K - Merrimac Neighborhood Park
This project will renovate the aging playground facility within Merrimac Local Park with new equipment and safety surfacing, along with accessibility, SWM, and drainage improvements.

$150K - Bethesda Meeting House
The Bethesda Historical Society used funds for restoration design work for “the Church that Named Bethesda."

$100K - JSSA
The Mobile Mental Health Unit provided a mobile office so that JSSA could better serve the health and social wellness of our neighbors.

Alef Bet Montessori School serves children from preschool to elementary classes. Funds went to capital improvements.
